An Indonesian envoy tasked with mediating talks between Democratic People's Republic of Korea ( DPRK) and South Korea has departed Thursday evening, a spokesman said Friday.
Nana Sutresna, former Indonesian ambassador to Britain, will be in Pyongyang for two days before continuing trip to Seoul, Foreign Affairs Ministry's spokesman Yuri Thamrin said in a news conference here.
Nana will act as a presidential envoy, said Yuri.
Earlier in January, Minister of Defense Juwono Sudarsono said Indonesia has been requested by South Korea to provide a venue for the meeting between defense ministers of South Korea and DPRK.
Indonesia has been pushing for peaceful settlement over reunification issues on the Korean peninsula since the Megawati Soekarnoputri administration.
