font size

Hundreds of Indonesian Muslims staged rally near the Danish embassy here Friday to protest the publishing of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad by a Danish newspaper.

The rally turned violence as protesters forced to enter the embassy guarded by about 50 policemen.

The angry protesters, mostly members of the Islam Defender Front (FPI), smashed chairs and tables at the embassy lobby. No one was injured in the incident.

Police finally managed to control the mob and five FPI members were allowed to hold discussion with embassy staff.
