Fourteen Indonesians working for Taiwanese fishing boats have been released more than five months after they were taken hostages by a Somali armed group, a spokesman of the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Friday.
The Indonesian hostages were now on their way to Nairobi, Kenya, spokesman Yuri O Thamrin said.
"Indonesian officials in Nairobi said the 14 Indonesian fishermen were released and leaving (for Nairobi)," Antara news agency quoted Yuri as saying.
The Indonesian workers were taken hostages near Kismayo Port in South Somalia on Aug. 15, 2005.
