10 civilians, 2 security men hurt in guerrillas' blast in E. Nepal

At least 10 civilians and two security men were injured in a guerrillas' blast in eastern Nepal on Friday morning, local police office said Saturday.

The civilians and the security men were hurt when a bomb planted by guerrillas went off on Luhandra bridge in Biratnagar city of Morang district, some 400 km east of Kathmandu, on Friday, local police office said in a statement.

The guerrillas had blocked the Hulaki Highway for over 10 hours after planting 14 powerful bombs on the bridge, the police noted.

A troop of Royal Nepalese Army from Itahari defused 13 bombs while the one went off. Two Royal Nepalese Army personnel were injured while trying to defuse the bombs.

Meanwhile, guerrillas also detonated a bomb on a rural road at Pidarmani of Sidraha village on Friday morning, the police said, adding, "The security forces managed to defuse that bomb as well."
