Road passenger transport hit 203 mln during Lunar Year holiday
font size

Travels by road during the week-long Spring Festival holiday hit 203.4 million, recording a 5.3 percent increase on a year-on-year basis.

Official with Ministry of Communications noted that the road passenger transport proceeded smoothly and orderly, but the fluctuation of passenger flow was rather fierce. From Jan. 29 to Feb.1, the average daily passenger flow was less than half of that in usual. The return journey started from Feb. 2 and reached its peak on Feb.3 and 4, reaching 45 million to 50 million.

The safety for passenger transport during Spring Festival holiday has been improved, with no extraordinarily serious traffic accident killing more than 10 people reported. For the case of bad weather conditions such as rain, snow and fog in some provinces, local communications departments launched emergency plan to ensure the traffic. No passengers have been held up by the foul weather.
