China's tourism income reaches 36.8 billion yuan for Spring Festival

China hosted 78.32 million tourists during the Spring Festival holidays, up 13.5 percent over the previous year, the National Tourism Administration said Sunday.

The country reaped 36.8 billion yuan (4.6 billion U.S. dollars) of tourism income in the period of the Chinese Lunar New Year, up 17.6 percent year-on-year.

According to the latest statistics from the China National Tourism Administration, there were 19.32 million overnight tourists during the holiday. China's civil aviation industry reaped 2.32 billion yuan of income, and the country's railway industry gained 1.74 billion yuan.

The country's tourism activities went on sound and orderly during the holidays, with visitors' satisfaction rate surpassing 90 percent.
