The Law and Regulation Bureau (LRB) under the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council will continuously cooperate with the departments concerned to resolutely oppose activities of "Taiwan's de jure independence" through "constitutional" changes and will further promote the cross-Straits exchanges on laws.
Zhou Ning, LRB deputy director, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Xinhua on Monday.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council established the bureau in August 2005 in a bid to deal more effectively with the legislative work relating to Taiwan issues.
Zhou said the bureau is responsible for studying and hammering out laws, regulations and policies relating to Taiwan issues, as well as analyzing and conducting research on the laws and regulations on cross-Straits relations and issues, made by the Taiwan authorities.
