Global chip sales to keep growing
font size

The US-based Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) pointed out recently that chip sales in the world increased by 6.8 percent to reach 227.5 billion US dollars last year due to the soaring demand for consumer electronic products and the sustainable sales growth of personal computers. It predicts that global chip sales will see further growth this year.

The SIA said this year's prospect for global semiconductor sector is still bright, considering the factors including the stable growth of global economy, the controllable range of stockpile, and the output capacity in keeping with demand increase. It is expected that the chip sales will hopefully rise 7.9 percent to about 245 billion US dollars in 2006.
