Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas said on Tuesday that Poland's PKN Orlen and Kazakhstan's state-owned Kazmunaigaz were the only companies to have lodged bids for a majority stake in the Baltic state's Mazeikiu Nafta oil refinery.

"These two companies have submitted their offers to Yukos," Brazauskas said in an interview aired on Lithuanian public radio which could be received Riga.

"We do not know the price offered by the Polish company yet but it should be known in a few weeks," he said.

Earlier, Kazmunaigaz announced it was prepared to pay 1.2 billion dollars for the 53.7-percent stake in Mazeikiu, the only oil refinery in Lithuania which is currently controlled by Russian oil giant Yukos.

Reports from Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, said PKN Orlen has offered 1.5 billion dollars for the stake.

Last month, Steven Theede, chairman of the board of Yukos, said during a visit to Vilnius that the sale of the oil giant's majority stake in Mazeikiu Nafta could be completed in two to four months.
