Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan urged China's booming Guangdong Province to develop recycle economy, save energy and make good use of resources so as to progress in a sustainable manner.
Zeng made an inspection tour of the province Feb. 5 - Feb. 8.
He said Guangdong, which is a forerunner of China's reform and opening up, can still take a lead in implementation of "Concept of scientific development."
Accompanied by local officials, Zeng visited factories, ports and city infrastructure in Guangdong. He said Guangdong boasts a large population but comparatively less land. It is also faced with resources and power shortage.
He said the local government should take more measures to build up an energy-saving and environment-friendly society, so that Guangdong could develop in a safe, clean and sustainable way.
