Uganda's Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the final number of registered voters for the February 23 multiparty elections was 10,450,788, local press reported on Thursday.
EC Chairman Badru Kiggundu said on Wednesday that the number was arrived at after adjustments during the last update.
"The EC has just completed the integration of changes from display, i.e. deletions and additions as recommended by the parish tribunals across the country," he said.
The registered voters will took part in presidential, parliamentary and local councils elections.
The number went up from the 8.5 million voters registered for the 2005 referendum, but down from the over 11 million registered during the 2001 general elections.
Flanked by deputy chairperson Sr. Margaret Magoba and other commissioners, Kiggundu said the printing of ballot papers for the elections was going on.
The EC had received another 20,240 transparent ballot boxes, in addition to the 15,380 received earlier, he said, adding that another 15,380 would arrive in a week's time.
