    Ma Lin, a leading member of Chinese men's national table tennis team, is honored flowers after winning a game during a selection tounament in Beijing, capital city of China, Feb. 9, 2006. Chinese men's national team organized circle matches to decide its final namelist for the 48th World Table Tennis Championship, which is to be held in Bremen, Germany, at the end of April. Ma Lin and Wang Hao had the direct access to join this group event through selection tounament.

    Deadly H5N1 strain of avian flu reported in Nigeria

    The deadly H5N1 bird flu virus has been detected on a large commercial chicken farm in Nigeria �� the first reported outbreak in Africa, the World Organization for Animal Health said Wednesday.

    "China Dream" photo exhibition opens in London

    A man passes exhibited photos taken in China in London, Britain, Feb. 8, 2006. A photo exhibition named "China Dream" opened on Feb. 8 to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year at Southhwark metro station in London. The exhibition is held by London Gallery West and University of Westminster in cooperation with several Chinese institutions including the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Nanjing Normal University and Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts. The pictures were all taken by Chinese students and British Chinese students. The exhibition offers an opportunity to understand more about contemporary culture of the internationalized China. This exhibition is a part of "China in London", a large culture exchange activity between Great Britain and China, which lasts for three months.

    Medical observation for close contacts of dead poultry in Shanxi begins

    Medical and epidemic prevention workers check the temperature of a villager who had close contact with the poultry in Yijing town of Yangquan City in north China's Shanxi Province, Feb. 9, 2006. Local medical department have confirmed 35 persons who had close contact with the sick or dead poultry and began the medical observation to them, since the bird flu outbreak in Yangquan was confirmed on Feb. 7 by Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.
