A three-member crew from a U.S. TV is in Zambia for some weeks to conduct research and interviews in preparation for a broadcast on Zambia's trade and investment opportunities to potential US investors, Zambia Daily Mail reported Friday.

Audrey Kean, an international business consultant with the U.S. TV said in Lusaka that the program will be aired on Fox TV to millions of viewers in the United States.

The program aims at building awareness among U.S. investors of the various business opportunities that the country offers as well as to help change the negative image about the southern African country and Africa generally, Kean said.

"We are trying to counteract the negative images people in the USA have about Africa by highlighting the success stories as well as the various business opportunities that exist," she said.

During the stay, they will meet private companies, officials from key government ministries, the Investment Center and the Zambia National Tourist Board.

Kean said the program seeks to feature indigenous firms that will act as role models to highlight the success stories in Zambia and the various business opportunities the country offers.

She said that from mid-2005, focus for the TV has been on Africa and so far a number of countries such as Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya have already been featured on the program.

The broadcast will aim at capturing the mining, agriculture and tourism of Zambia in an effort to ensure that it disseminates the right kind of information to the U.S. investors.
