Marine economy doubles in past five years

News from State Oceanic Administration on Feb. 9 shows that the gross volume of marine economy last year has recorded the historic new high and hit the previous set targets.

According to statistics, the total output of marine products registered 1,698.7 billion yuan, realising an added value of 720.2 billion yuan, which is equivalent to four percent of GDP. It climbed up 12.2 percent from last year if calculated in terms of comparable prices, surpassing the growth rate of national economy by 2.3 percent.

The proportion of marine "three industries" stands at 17:31:52, with the added value of primary industry reaching 120.6 billion yuan, and that of secondary industry 223.2 billion yuan and that of tertiary industry 376.4 billion yuan. It is estimated that employees working with marine industries new have exceeded 27 million.

During the "Tenth Five-Year" period, the accumulative value of major marine industries has reached 5,749.9 billion yuan, and the added value hit 2,499.2 billion yuan.
