font size

A South African diplomat said Friday that the South African government will exert more efforts to investigate in the recent robbery and murder cases against Chinese citizens.

"The South African government is making utmost efforts to investigate in the cases and hopefully it will give an account of the cases to the victim's families at last," said Vusi. B. Koloane, a diplomat with South Africa's Embassy in China.

He also expressed condolence on behalf of the South African government to the victims.

Three Chinese business people were killed by armed robbers in South Africa within the space of last weekend; another one was killed earlier this year.

Huang Ping, deputy director of the consulate department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, summoned Vusi. B. Koloane on Thursday to make a representation on behalf of the Chinese government.

According to the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, one case has been cracked by South African police with a suspect arrested.
