China witnesses fast growth of overseas labor cooperation, consulting service

In 2005, the completed business volume of China's overseas labor cooperation service grew 27.5 percent year on year to 4.8 billion U.S. dollars, with newly signed volume rising 21.2 percent to 4.25 billion dollars, the Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.

In 2005, China altogether sent 274,000 laborers to foreign countries and regions, a rise of 26,000 from 2004.

At the end of 2005, a total of 565,000 Chinese laborers were working overseas, up 30,000 year on year.

In 2005 the completed business volume of China's overseas consulting and designing service reached 227 million dollars, jumping 54 percent year on year, with newly signed volume of 357 million dollars, up 1.6 percent.

In 2005, 54.2 percent of China's overseas labor cooperation service was in Asia, including Japan, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong region.

Most of Chinese laborers overseas are working in fields of manufacture, construction, agriculture, forestry, stockbreeding and fishery, the ministry said.

By the end of 2005, the completed business volume of China's overseas labor cooperation service totaled 35.6 billion dollars, and that concerning overseas consulting and designing service totaled 1.4 billion dollars.
