Three Gorges plant generates 100 billion kwh of power

The Three Gorges Power Plant has cumulatively generated 100 billion kwh of electricity by Feb. 10 this year.

After this year's seasonal floods (late September to early October), the Three Gorges project will realize its third-phase goal of water storage to 156 meters in height, one year ahead of schedule.

As a prerequisite for water storage, the cleaning for the bottom of the reservoir was started last Friday.

By the end of 2005, nearly 78 billion yuan of static investment has been put into the Three Gorges project. The dam on the northern bank of the river has reached 185 meters in height with 14 generating units put into generation, one year ahead of schedule. The concrete pouring for the dam on the southern bank has reached 160 meters high with the installation of generators in full swing.
