Russia's Maria Petrova/Alexei Tikhonov had a flawless performance to win the figure skating pairs gold medal with 204.48 points at the Winter Olympics on Monday.

China's Zhang Dan/Zhang Hao overcame a fall by Zhang Dan to win the silver medal. Their score of 189.73 points is 2.82 ahead of former world champions Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo, who finished third.

Another Chinese pair Pang Qing/Tong Jian placed fourth in 186. 67 points.
