Bangladesh receives aid from WB

Bangladesh had received 326.84 million U.S. dollars assistance from the World Bank (WB) during the current fiscal (July 2005-June 2006), The Daily Star quoted Finance and Planning Minister M Saifur Rahman as saying on Tuesday.

Rahman said 97.2 million dollars was also received from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during the period.

The finance minister said according to the estimated data of the Bureau of Statistics, the country's gross national income in 2004-05 was 470 U.S. dollars, which was 343 U.S. dollars in 1995- 96.

Saifur said that the government had earned 39.66 billion taka ( about 610.17 million U.S. dollars) as revenue until December last year after assuming power.

He said the government had distributed 25.78 billion taka ( about 396.62 million U.S. dollars) as agricultural loans in the current fiscal until December 2005.
