Beijing's exports hit record high in 2005

Beijing's exports hit a record 30 billion U.S. dollars last year, a rise of 50.1 percent year-on-year, according to the Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau.

The export volume ranked seventh among all of China's provinces and municipalities, according to the bureau figures.

Electronics and machines contributed 57.3 percent to the city's total exports and high-tech products made up 38.1 percent of the total exports.

Beijing exported commodities to 232 countries and regions worldwide last year, over 50 more than in 2000.
