China to solve cross-border river issues via dialogue: FM spokesman
font size

China will properly solve cross-border river issues with relevant countries through dialogue and continue adopting responsible policies without infringing upon interests of neighbouring countries, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao Tuesday.

Liu made the remarks at a routine news briefing when asked to comment on the cross-border river issue between China and Kazakhstan.

China, as a country of vast territory, shares cross-border rivers with its neighboring nations. Liu said China has always attached great importance to the reasonable use of cross-border rivers and the protection of water resources.

China is implementing a policy on the simultaneous protection and utilization of water resources of the cross-border rivers, Liu stressed.
