Chinese premier expects Myanmar to care about overseas Chinese
font size

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Tuesday in Beijing that China expects Myanmar to take care of the overseas Chinese in Myanmar.

Wen made the statement in a meeting with his Myanmar counterpart Soe Win, who is on a five-day official visit to China.

China would like Myanmar to adopt a more relaxed policy towards the overseas Chinese in Myanmar, Wen said, calling for Myanmar to attach importance to their requests and facilitate their work, living and education .

The Chinese government, as always, encourages overseas Chinese to abide by local laws, integrate themselves into local society and actively participate in the local social and economic development, Wen said.
