Brazilian bobsledder Armando dos Santos is the first athlete to be kicked out of the Winter Olympics after testing positive for the banned steroid nandrolone.

Dos Santos, a former hammer thrower, tested positive when the Brazilian Olympic Committee checked on him on Jan. 3-4. His "B" sample has been confirmed positive too, according to a statement from the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

Brazilian winter sports chief Eric Maleson said Dos Santos has left the Olympics.
