Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday on a three-day official visit for talks about security issues and to enhance trade and economic ties with Pakistan, the state television reported.
According to the schedule, a formal reception by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf will be held at the "Aiwan-e-Sadr" presidential house later in the evening and after that the two leaders will hold a meeting.
During his state here, the Afghan president will meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and he will deliver a speech at the National Defense College in Islamabad. He will also address Pakistani traders.
Pakistan will take up the issue of border violations from Afghan territory to President Hamid Karzai when he meet with Pakistani leaders, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Asalm said.
On the bilateral front, the Afghan transit trade, economic cooperation, reconstruction, import of electricity from Kazakhstan via Afghanistan and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan gas pipeline project will be discussed during their talks, according to officials from Pakistani side.
This is Karzai's seventh trip to Pakistan in the past four years and the second one in less than five months.
The 35-member delegation, headed by Karzai, including ministers of foreign affairs, defense, commerce, MPs and several provincial governors including those of Kandahar and Kabul.
