The Indonesian government plans to buy 50 diesel locomotives with about 1 trillion rupiah (108.5 million US dollars) to be financed with foreign loans, a local newspaper reported Thursday.
The planned purchase is aimed at preparing state-run railway company PT Kereta Api for the liberalization of the railway industry in Indonesia, reported Bisnis Indonesia, quoting an official with the Ministry of Transportation.
The proposal has been submitted to several creditors, according to railway director Soemino Eko Saputro.
