Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan and former Secretary of State of the United States Madeleine Korbel Albright spoke highly of bilateral ties during their meeting in Beijing Thursday.
Sino-U.S. relations are coming along steadily and a constructive and cooperative partnership between the two sides is developing, Tang said.
Tang said that economic and trade cooperation had been highly beneficial to both countries.
Both sides should handle economic and trade issues through balanced dialogue and friendly negotiation, respecting each other's concerns, and resolve the differences while endeavoring to promote cooperation which is of mutual benefit, Tang said.
Albright echoed Tang's views, saying that U.S.-Sino relations are "very important" and in a good status quo.
Bilateral economic and trade cooperation, which has been expanding steadily, benefits both countries, she agreed.
The United States is willing to promote bilateral relations by working with China, which has been playing a "positive" role in international and regional issues.
Albright is visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
