Qiu Baoxing, vice minister of construction, said that energy-efficient constructions had been promoted in China's cold regions at a press conference given by the Information Office of the State Council.
According to inspections conducted last December by the ministry, the energy-efficient construction work in six provinces and municipalities including Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, was being carried out in an satisfactory way, Qiu said.
There are still some problems in the development of energy-efficient constructions, since it has not long been in practice in China. Its progress in the north is greater than that in the south.
The ministry's survey shows that 50 percent of buildings in the north have energy-efficiency technologies, less than 20 percent for those regions with hot summers and cold winters, merely 10 percent for those with fervent summers and warm winters.
