Turin Games running smoothly, says IOC

The International Olympic Committee said on Thursday that it was pleased to see the Turin winter Games has been going smoothly since it opened last Friday.

"On Day Six we see they get into their stride," IOC's director of communications Giselle Davies told a daily press conference.

"The focus is really on the sport and on the athletes. This is what really is all about," she added.

IOC President Jacques Rogge, happy with the progress of the Feb. 10-26 Games, scrapped a daily coordination meeting on Tuesday.

"We did not have in the past few days any meetings of the coordinating committee as there were no issues on the table and this is a comfort factor for IOC," said Davies.

Ticket sales have heated up over the past week as more Italians flock to venues to watch the Olympians' performance.

According to the TOROC, 815,000 out of the one million tickets have been sold by Wednesday.
