Royal Australia Institute of Architects launches international base in HKThe Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) announced here on Friday that it has established an international presence in Hong Kong. RAIA International will significantly increase the networking and level of support for the RAIA's 800-plus members working overseas, many of them in Asia. RAIA National President Bob Nation said "this is an important step forward for the RAIA, providing overseas members with an enhanced level of service and a greater voice." He said, Hong Kong was chosen as the base for RAIA International because the RAIA already has over 300 members and its central to many other countries and regions in the Asia- Pacific region in which a large number of members work. He said "it is our joint hope that RAIA International will form a mutually beneficial collaborative relationship with the Hong Kong Institute of Architects who currently boast more than 2,000 members." The establishment of the RAIA International is aimed at providing benefits for both Australian and overseas members by providing support and information on the myriad of issues. Bob Nation said whatever its advice on education, registration, tax, currency, the protection of intellectual property, insurance, attribution, or fees, the RAIA will now be able to facilitate an extended network which will be of benefit to members wherever they are.
