China's Inner Mongolia region to send 20 volunteers across the border
font size

North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will send 20 volunteers to neighboring Mongolia this June to offer various services in agriculture, animal husbandry, water resources, Chinese language teaching and medical care, a local youth leader said Friday.

It will be the first time that western China's provinces and regions have sent volunteers abroad, according to Ren Xiao, secretary-general of the Inner Mongolia Youth Federation. The organization started recruiting volunteers on Friday.

"We've been busy answering phone calls asking to join the volunteer teams," Ren said, adding the callers included government officials, university students, teachers and professional technicians.

Ren said the volunteers should be under the age of 40 and be able to offer one-to-four-month's service in Mongolia.

The Inner Mongolia Youth Federation signed an agreement with the Mongolia Youth Federation in May last year, which initiated the volunteer plans, according to Ren.
