    Miners trapped in coalmine saved in NE China

    Seven miners surviving the cave-in are sent to a hospital in Fuxin, northeast China's Liaoning Province, Feb. 21, 2006. All of the seven miners who were trapped in Aiyou Coal Mine affiliated to Fuxin Mining Group Co. Ltd on Feb. 18 were rescued and hoisted to the ground early on Tuesday. The rescue workers built a 29-meter-long tunnel connecting to the location where the trapped miners stayed and eventually found the miners around 4:50 a.m.. Cause of the accident is under further investigation.

    EU to decide on bird flu vaccination

    France is one of the eight EU states where dead wild birds had tested positive for H5N1 virus. France has set aside 730 million euro (876 million U.S. dollars) to fight the virus and says it is prepared to vaccinate some 900,000 birds.

    Large ancient village discovered in Henan

    The file photo shows the excavating spot in Sanyangzhuang archaeological site in Huangxin county, north China's Henan Province. A large ancient village, buried by the mud of the flood for more than 2000 years, was discovered in the old course of the Yellow river. Its Till-on farmland is well preserved. The find provids the first-hand materials for studies on the culture and system of farming in Chinese Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-24A.D.).
