Pakistani President: China's assistance reflects true friendship
font size

Visiting Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said in a bilateral joint statement that China's selfless assistance to Pakistan reflects the true friendship between the two countries.

He expressed appreciation of the provision of emergency relief materials and humanitarian assistance by the Chinese government and people in the wake of the major earthquake that hit Pakistan on Oct. 8, 2005.

Chinese President Hu Jintao said in the joint statement that the Chinese side will take an active part in the reconstruction of the disaster-hit areas in Pakistan and will help the affected people rebuild their homeland.

China's aid to the South Asian country after the devastating earthquake last year amounted to more than 20.5 million U.S. dollars.
