Yang Wenchang, the Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), left Hong Kong and went back to Beijing on Wednesday after completing his two-and-a-half- year term.

Before his departure, Yang again thanked the HKSAR government headed by Chief Executive Donald Tsang, all walks of life and foreign consulates and institutions in Hong Kong for their care and support to himself and the work of the commissioner office.

Yang said he believes Hong Kong will maintain its prosperity, stability and social harmony with the concerted efforts by the HKSAR government headed by Chief Executive Donald Tsang and Hong Kong compatriots.

"I believe Hong Kong will have a better future," he said.
