Chinese Wang and Yang enter women's 1,000m short track quarterfinal

Two Chinese skaters Wang Meng and Yang Yang skated into the women's short track 1,000m quarterfinal at the Turin Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

Wang Meng, who won the women's 500m gold and 1,500m bronze, competed in the seventh heat and finshed first with brezze at 1:37. 161.

Her compatriot Yang Yang, the gold medalist in the Salt Lake City Games, also qualified for the quaterfinal, taking the lead in the second heat at 1:34.878.

Evgenia Radanova of Bulgaria, the silver medalist in the 500m in the Games, Choi Eun-Kyung and Jin Sun-Yu of South Korea, who won the gold and silver in the 1,500m in Turin, also qualified the quarterfinal, which starts on Saturday.
