Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki said Thursday in Jakarta that Iran has no intention to develop any nuclear weapons and called for respect for the rights to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks during a brief visit to Indonesia Thursday.
"There are no nuclear weapons inside our defense center. We don 't develop nuclear weapons and we are transparent over this matter, " Manuchehr Mottaki said at a news conference after a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirajuda.
"We only want to develop nuclear energy for commercial fuel," he added.
Wirajuda said Indonesia supported Iran's nuclear development for non-military purpose and the ongoing talks for possible uranium enrichment process in Russia.
"Iran has the right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes," said Wirajuda.
