No Chinese casualties in Moscow roof collapse: embassy
font size

No Chinese citizens have been confirmed dead or injured in a roof collapse at a covered market in Moscow on Thursday, the Chinese embassy in Moscow said.

Chinese embassy officials in Moscow learned from emergency officials overseeing the rescue operation at the scene that most of the market's business owners come from Central Asia and few Chinese visit the market. No Chinese have been found dead or injured, the embassy said in a statement.

Embassy officials are in constant contact with emergency authorities, and closely follow the rescue operation and will publish relevant information as it becomes available, the statement said.

At least 48 people have been killed and 29 others injured when a roof caved in under the weight of snow in a Moscow market Thursday morning.
