Indonesia reaffirms support for one-China policy
font size

Indonesia consistently supports the one-China policy and China's national reunification cause, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Friday.

Yuri Thamrin, the spokesman, made the remarks at a press conference while commenting on leader of Taiwan authorities Chen Shui-bian's recent claim on abolishing Taiwan's "National Unification Council" and "National Unification Guideline."

"Indonesia's position on the Taiwan question is that we are consistent on the one-China policy and support China's national reunification process which is conducted in peaceful way," Thamrin said.

The spokesman added that even during the time when the diplomatic ties of Indonesia and China were frozen, Indonesia still held this stance.

"From our side, we expect that peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits can be maintained," he said.
