Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Friday ordered formation of a 5-member inquiry committee to probe the cause of a fire in a factory in southeastern Chittagong and identify the persons who dead in the fire, according to local media reports.
The directive came as she visited the KTS Composite Textiles Mills in southeastern port city Chittagong, the scene of Thursday's deadly fire, the reports said, adding that the prime minister also asked the concerned authorities to rehabilitate the fire victims.
The fire broke out at the three-storied factory building when a boiler exploded with a bang on Thursday in Bangladesh's second largest Chittagong port city, about 260 km from Dhaka.
A total of 55 people were killed and more than 100 missing when rescue workers ended their search for more bodies and wounded persons in the factory on Friday, officials said.
