Guerrillas capture 9 oil tankers in mid-western NepalThe anti-government forces on Saturday seized nine oil-tankers in mid-western Nepal, Nepal Petroleum Dealers' Association (NPDA) said here Sunday. "The guerrillas captured the oil tankers from Khairikhola area along the Lamahi-Kohalpur road section of Mahendra Highway of Nepal in Banke district, some 600 km west of Kathmandu," NPDA said in a press statement. The tankers belonging to private oil dealers were transporting about 100,000 liters of oil to Dang district from Nepalgunj city of neighboring Banke district, the statement noted. NPDA has appealed to those concerned to immediately release the captured tankers and petroleum products. The entrepreneurs have started oil trade after the government- owned Nepal Oil Corporation terminated its service in the region. The dealers have to invest money themselves while buying petroleum products from the depots at wholesale price, as per the changed policy of the government, the statement said. Also on Saturday, the guerrillas torched a diesel tanker carrying 12,000 liters of diesel on the Helambu Highway at Kuntabesi area of central Kavre district, some 50 km east of Kathmandu, the statement added.
