British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott left southwest China's Sichuan Province for Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon, ending his seven-day official visit to the Chinese mainland.

Following his arrival in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, Saturday afternoon, Prescott visited a local football club, Chengdu Blades FC, in which the British Sheffield United football club owns a 90 percent stake. Sunday morning, he visited a local panda research center.

Prior to his visit to the southwest China city, Prescott visited a coastal city of Ningbo in east China's Zhejiang Province, and Shanghai, China's economic powerhouse.

The deputy prime minister kicked off his eighth China visit on February 20 in Beijing, where he met or held talks with top Chinese leaders.
