Stricter security measures will be imposed on venues of entertainment across this Chinese national capital of Beijing beginning on March 1.
He Angang, deputy head of the law and order enforcement detachment of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, said the measures were planned for implementation of the newly-revised document of the State Council concerning the administration of venues of entertainment.
The document, entitled "Regulation on Administration of Venues of Entertainment", stipulates all disco halls must conduct security checks, and entrances and main passages of all entertainment venues have closed-circuit TV monitoring equipment. It also states all venues of entertainment are off-limits to teenagers and may not operate between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m.
The municipal public security bureau has told all operators of all venues of entertainment to lose no time in carrying out inspection by themselves and rectifying problems found therein, said He.
There are now 1,460 venues of entertainment across Beijing, including 1,100 song and dance halls. More than half of them have installed close-circuit TV monitoring gadgets and 11 disco halls have been carrying out security checks.
