China-made "heart" to propel 10-thousand-ton ships

The localization of ship-use semi-built-up crankshaft was completed and proved to be successful in the national testing in Shanghai, making China the fifth country in the world which is able to make the product independently, following Japan, South Koear, Czech, and Spain.

The ship-use component is the core part of ship engines and has been produced by Shanghai Ship-use Crankshaft Company. The MAN B&W lines in the project completed at Shanghai Heavy Machinery Plant will serve ten-thousand-ton ships.
