State University of New York announced yesterday to set up a representative office in China. Prof. Chenning Yang, who used to teach at State University of New York at Stony Brook and his wife Weng Fan attended the banquet held by the University.

There are thousands of alumni of State University of New York in China. The banquet turned into an alumni party of the University, for more than a hundred alumni, including China's education minister Zhou Ji, were present, Sitting nearby the podium, Prof. Yang and Weng Fan talked and smiled to each other occasionally. During the banquet, many alumni came to greet Prof. Yang, while Weng Fan spoke to foreign guests in English frequently.
