HK opens temporary shelters for people to ward off coldThe Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government opened 11 temporary shelters Tuesday for people to seek refuge from the cold weather. The temporary shelters would open from 5:30 p.m. (0930 GMT) Tuesday to 8:30 a.m. (0030 GMT) Wednesday, the government said Tuesday afternoon in a press release. The 11 shelters are located in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Anyone seeking temporary refuge from the chilly weather may call the department's Emergency Co-ordination Center for more information, according to the press release.
