Lu Xinhua, new commissioner of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), met with Chief Executive Donald Tsang on Wednesday.
During their friendly talks, Lu said he felt it a great honor and responsibility to be appointed by the Central Government to preside over the commissioner office work in the HKSAR.
Lu said he will work hard to deal with foreign affairs concerning Hong Kong strictly according to the Basic Law, the policies of "one country, two systems", "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong" and "high degree of Hong Kong self-rule."
Lu thanked the Chief Executive and the HKSAR government for their all-along great support and assistance to the Commissioner Office, adding the Commissioner Office will further strengthen its contact and cooperation with the HKSAR government.
Chief Executive Donald Tsang expressed his warm welcome to the new commissioner, saying the HKSAR government, all communities of Hong Kong and he himself will support and assist as always the work of the Commissioner Office and he is willing to keep contact and communication with the commissioner any time.
