Niger re-stresses opposition to "Taiwan independence"
font size

Niger's government firmly opposes Taiwan's separatist moves, the country's foreign ministry said in a note to the Chinese embassy in Niger on Tuesday.

According to the note obtained by Xinhua on Wednesday, the Niger government reiterated its support for the one-China policy and opposed any separatist moves aimed at seeking "Taiwan independence."

Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian announced on Monday that the "National Unification Council" would "cease to function" and the "National Unification Guidelines" would "cease to apply."
