Thailand halts free-trade talks with US
font size

Thailand has suspended free trade talks with the United States until a new government takes office after snap elections set for April 2, the foreign ministry announced Thursday.

The ministry hopes the United States would understand the reason and the delay would not affect the overall negotiations, Ministry spokesman Sihasak Phuangketkeow said, according to the web edition of local newspaper The Nation.

Thailand said on Monday that it would postpone the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with Japan until March 17 due to the current political crisis.
