Ghana, US companies sign agreement to boost tourism
font size

Journeymax Executive Travel Services, a Ghana based travel and tour company and American Express Travel, a leading global travel service have signed a partnership agreement to boost tourism services in Ghana.

The partnership would among other things help in promoting Ghana's growing reputation as a destination of choice for business, conferences and international tourism by making real the country's brand name: "Ghana, the Golden Experience."

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, who launched the partnership, was quoted by Ghana News Agency as saying on Friday that Ghana was a good destination for all purposes, hence the need for people working in the tourism industry to give tourists value for their money.

"Be transparent in transacting business, making the customer feel important and having their money worth and help make a big difference in the industry," Asamoah Boateng said.

The deputy minister noted that the private sector had a key role to play in the realization of the tourism vision to attract over a million tourists to the country by 2007.

Gloria Peprah, managing director of Journeymax Executive Travel Services, said the partnership would facilitate the government's desire to enhance the country's image.

Chief Executive Officer of American Travel Service in South Africa, Gavin Stevens, who signed on behalf of his company, commended the staff of Journeymax for making the partnership a reality.
