Lam Woon-kwong has been appointed as chief executive officer of the Equestrian Events (Hong Kong) of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Company Limited, announced the Equestrian Committee of Beijing Olympics on Friday.
Lam, former director of the Chief Executive's Office of Hong Kong government, will serve the post from March 8 through the end of the events.
The Equestrian Events Company Limited, which was incorporated on February 15, is set to implement the organizational work of the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events.
The company also announced the Secretary for Home Affairs Patrick Ho as its Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Ho said the board is confident that Lam is the most suitable person to organize this massive venture.
"Mr Lam was considered by the Selection Board as a highly capable and well qualified candidate who could deliver a high standard international sporting event,"said Ho.
"By appointing Mr Lam to be the CEO, we can be sure that the organizational work of the events is in the best possible hands.
Mr Lam's rich experience in public administration and exposure to sports policies will turn the events into a wonderful spectacle."
