South China's Guangdong Province has been articulating measures to prevent new human infections of the bird flu in the wake of Sunday's confirmation of the suspected death from bird flu of a 32-year-old man in the province.
Information from the provincial government said that they made careful arrangement for the prevention and control of the highly pathogenic flu strain on the same day after having convened a meeting attended by organizations in charge of avian flu prevention and control and headquarters dealing with public health emergencies.
The arrangement stipulates that greater efforts should be made to ensure that all poultry in the province be inoculated and the supervision over the farmers' produce markets be tightened to prevent poultry that has not been quarantined from entering.
More money will be spent on bird flu prevention and control, greater efforts will be made to ensure markets be thoroughly disinfected, and publicity regarding prevention and control of the highly pathogenic avian diseases will be stepped up, according to provincial government sources.
